This play was enourmously popular in Russia running for 2 decades. Primarily a love story it is also a historical allegory commenting on the cold war politics of the era. It is not a typical rock opera as it blends rock with Russian Orthodox chants and period music. It is a unique experience, beautiful, fateful, tragic, colorful and rich.
